"Stop Writing, Let The AI Do It For You"

Published on Dec 8, 2021

This is an experimental article. I tried typing ideas into copy.ai. I did it mainly for fun. This is the first generated text I got:

I wanted to see if I could use an AI model to generate content on a website. It turns out that this is well within my reach. I’ve now tested the idea out on a domain of my own and have put together a site with what seems to be working very well for me for a week: https://magicwebsite.online/ This is the article you are reading right now, so you could say I’m using it as part of my experiment. Does the tool really work ? Is it decent quality ? It certainly looks like it, so let’s talk about how soon we can expect AI writing to take over the internet.

And this:

in the not too distant future, when every website is automatically generated from an algorithm, copying everything from inspirational quotes to the finest details will be normal. If you don’t believe that day is nearing, I have a bridge in San Francisco I’d like to sell you…

Seeing how good the generated text is, I wonder if any of our everyday reading materials is written this way.

Meanwhile, I typed more ideas into the box and can't wait to find out more about what the AI says:

For those of us who have to write for a living - here's an interesting tidbit: did you know that around 40% of your daily reading material may be written by machines? That's right. Natural language generation is here, and is continually advancing.

A computer-generated text from Reddit user u/Synthecis recently took the web by storm. The text was created by combining two separate pieces of writing. After reading the generated piece, you might (un)naturally wonder if anyone really writes this way.

To be honest, it creeps me out.
